Part One:  Protecting Yourself By Understanding “The Books”

All the math and organizational skills you need to successfully manage your own “books” you learned in third grade, yet somehow when it comes to doing our books, fear and procrastination can often creep up. 

In part one of this content rich evening, you will:

    * examine what the “books” are;

    * learn how you can organize yourself to get your books started;

    * learn the allowable expenses for your business to maximize your tax deductions; and

    * learn some of the great tools available to help you make the process easy and manageable.

You will walk away with a clear sense of the difference between your balance sheet and your profit and loss, why each is important and how you can easily get a clear picture of how your business is doing at any moment just by peeking at your books!

Part Two:  Understand What You Need to do Legally to Protect Your Hard Work, Business and Brand!

*   Want to know how you can protect your personal assets (like your house or your savings) from being lost in a lawsuit against your business?

    * Want to protect all the creative energy and marketing efforts you’ve put into designing your logo and building your brand?

    * Want to understand why and how to create contracts so that you are in the driver’s seat when you negotiate?

In part two of this information packed evening, you will learn:

    * The dangers of the "DBA" and what you should do instead;

    * The difference between a corporation and an LLC and determine which is best for your company;

    * The difference between copyright, trademark and patent and which ones you might need to protect different parts of your marketing material; and

    * What some of that “legal mumbo jumbo” you read in contracts really means and why it’s important to you and your company.
